Businesses can use cloud computing alongside traditional on-site information technology to enhance flexibility and recoverability, it has been claimed.
This is the view of chief executive of icomplete.com, Stuart Hibbert who suggests that many companies are establishing hybrid cloud setups, which utilise both existing IT infrastructure and on-demand technology delivered online.
“You’ve got services that you’re running on-premise, but you’ve also got peak demand that you need from the cloud,” he stated.
Mr Hibbert said companies can allocate cloud computing technology really quickly compared to in-house IT which takes much longer to setup. He explained that during periods of high demand, the cloud can help organisations by ensuring everyone has access and capacity to continue working.
“By using a cloud infrastructure you can make sure you’ve got enough capacity to ensure everybody can actually do what they need to do at that particular point of time.”
“So you can actually have both, very much in terms of peak and demand, and also in terms of on-premise – where people want to have extra control and speed as well,” the expert said.
Peter Job, founder and chief executive officer at Intergence Systems, agreed that combined use of cloud computing and on-premises data management would take off as people embrace the benefits but remain wary of security.
